Vyacheslav Dmytrowytsch Sawalnjuk ( Ukrainian В'ячеслав Дмитрович Завальнюк , Russian Вячеслав Дмитриевич Завальнюк / Vyacheslav Dmitrievich Sawalnjuk * 10. December 1974 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian hockey player .
Career
Vyacheslav Savalnyuk began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at SchWSM Kiev , for whose professional team he was active in the second division of the Soviet Union and the CIS from 1990 to 1992. Then the defender played for three years for the traditional club HK Sokol Kiev in the international hockey league , but continued to occasionally play for his ex-club SHWSM Kiev in the second division. From 1995 to 1997 he played for HK Dynamo Moscow , first in the MHL, and in the 1996/97 season in the newly founded Superliga . In the same season he took part in the European Hockey League with the Russian capital club at European level . He and his team only failed in the final at the top Finnish club TPS Turku .
From 1997 to 2000 Savalnyuk played for one year each for the Super League participants Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk , Metallurg Novokuznetsk and SKA Saint Petersburg . The 2000/01 season spent the Ukrainian international with Krylja Sowetow Moscow in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division. In the following three seasons he was on the ice with his ex-club SKA Saint Petersburg in the super league. Two years at HK Sibir Novosibirsk followed before the 2002 Olympian moved to Severstal Tscherepowets at the beginning of the 2006/07 season. During the season he was committed by the top team HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , with whom he became Russian champions in the playoffs . Following this success, he ended his career at the age of 33.
International
For the Ukraine Savalnyuk took part in the junior division in the Junior C World Championship in 1993 and the Junior B World Championship in 1994 . In both tournaments he and his team were promoted to the next higher World Cup group. In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 1999 , 2000 , 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 World Championships , as well as the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City .
