Vladimir Borisovich Ruschailo
Vladimir Borisovich Rushailo ( Russian Владимир Борисович Рушайло * 28 July 1953 in Morshansk , Oblast Tambov , Soviet Union ) is a Russian politician and was from 1999 to 2001 Minister of the Interior of Russia.
biography
Vladimir Ruschailo worked in the Interior Ministry of the USSR since 1972 and later in the Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation .
On May 21, 1999 he was appointed Minister of the Interior of the Russian Federation by Russian President Boris Yeltsin . In this office he succeeded Sergei Stepashin , who was appointed Prime Minister at that time . In June 1999 Ruschailo became a member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation .
On March 28, 2001, Ruschailo was dismissed as Minister of the Interior and appointed Secretary of the National Security Council. In this capacity he was commissioned by Russian President Putin to investigate the downing of a Russian passenger plane by the Ukrainian Navy on October 4, 2001.
On June 14, 2004, Ruschailo was appointed Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States . On December 5, 2007 he was elected to the Federation Council, in which he represented the Arkhangelsk Oblast until September 25, 2013. On August 6, 2014, Ruschailo was released from active military service.
Ruschailo was married three times and has three children.
