His career got off to a very successful start, because in 2002 in Odessa at his first start at an international championship in the weight class up to 85 kg he became vice-European junior champion (age group Cadets). 2003 won the Junior European Championship (Cadets) in Rostov ahead of Ansor Totrow, Russia and in 2004 in Albena the Junior European Championship ahead of Todor Mihow, Bulgaria. From 2006 he had to start with the seniors. It then took a long time until he had fought his way up to the top national class in Georgia. It was not until 2010 that he was used at an international championship, the World Cup in Moscow. There he came in middleweight victories over Denis Forow , Armenia and Norikatsu Saikawa , Japan and then lost to Pablo Enrique Shorey Hernandez from Cuba and Alchazur Oschijew, Kazakhstan, which he came in 8th place.

Also in 2011 he competed in the World Championships. In Istanbul, however, he lost his first middleweight fight against Mélonin Noumonvi from France quite clearly. Since Noumonvi did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came in 32nd place. At the 2011 European Championships in Belgrade he won over Melonin Noumonvi and Artur Omarow, Czech Republic, then lost to Christo Marinow, Bulgaria and Viktor Lörincz , Hungary, and finished in 7th place. In May 2012 he managed to qualify for the Olympic Games in London with a second place behind Christo Marinow at the last available opportunity, a tournament in Helsinki . Then he lost to Alan Chugajew from Russia and in the consolation round also against Daniel Gadschijew from Kazakhstan and with a 5th place just missed the medal ranks.

At the 2013 European Championships in his home town of Tbilisi, he finally managed to win a medal in an international championship among the seniors. He defeated Adrian Mocanu, Moldova, Christo Marinow and Artur Schahinjan from Armenia in the middleweight division in Tbilisi and only just lost in the final against Russian veteran Alexei Mishin (1: 2 rounds, 2: 4 points).
