Wolf Adolf von Pannwitz (born March 13, 1679 in Groß Gaglow , † April 30, 1750 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and from 1739 to 1743 head of the Gens d'armes regiment .

His parents were Wolf Christoph von Pannwitz (* February 11, 1650; † May 11, 1715) and his wife Martha Elisabeth von Kyau (* October 11, 1654; † June 18, 1729).

Life

Pannwitz had his military career as a hunting and riding Page under King Frederick I started. He became an officer in the bodyguard and joined the Gensdarmes in 1714 . On August 20, 1714 he became a major there . On May 27, 1719 he became lieutenant colonel and in 1720 colonel , and in 1739 chief of the regiment. King Frederick the Great appointed him major general in 1741. But as early as 1742 he asked for his release because of illness , which was granted to him. In addition, he received a pension of 3,000 thalers. He served the Prussian Army in the campaigns in Brabant, Italy and on the Rhine.

In 1735, Pannwitz acquired Gut Schönfließ near Oranienburg and had it expanded for himself and his family. In addition, extensive reconstruction work was carried out in 1750 in the manorial courtyard area and a new preacher's house was built next to the Protestant village church.

Pannwitz was married to Johanna Maria Auguste, born of Jasmund ad H. Trollenhagen (* July 17, 1702, † April 17, 1771) and had a son, Friedrich Wilhelm (* July 21, 1719, † January 13, 1790), this one was married to Sophie Albertine von Viereck (born April 13, 1731; † October 13, 1772), the daughter of Adam Otto von Viereck . The daughter Sophie Marie (1729–1814) became lady-in-waiting and married Count Johann Ernst von Voss (1726–1793). His son Friedrich Wilhelm became Commendator of the Order of St. John in Lagow.

Wolf Adolf von Pannwitz was buried on April 30, 1750 in the Berlin garrison church.
