The most important river is the Bieselfließ that on Glienicke area Kindelfließ called the Tegel Creek flows and thus to the river system of the same part.

history

The oldest documented mention of Schönfließ comes from the year 1270. The place was probably founded under the aegis of the Ascanians and developed as a typical rural village with a church in the center. The first owner is Gerardus von Sconevlet on the deed from which the place name comes. In the land register of Emperor Charles IV of 1375, the place appeared as a Schonenflyt . From the 15th century onwards there were the following very frequent changes of ownership: 1442 von Krummensee feudal lord family, 1536 town of Bernau , provost of Havelberg Friedrich von Bardeleben , Joachim von Barsdorf.

After the Thirty Years War and the plague , hardly any inhabitants remained. Eventually a fire destroyed the houses and the last people left the place. After almost 20 years as a desert village, the Brandenburg head Johann Siegmund von Götzen acquired the village in 1660 , as well as the Dorfkrug (which burned to the ground in 1992) and a brick yard . He had his property expanded into a manor . As early as 1664, Schönfließ was exchanged for the Elector Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg (r. 1640–1688), who added it to his possession in Oranienburg . In 1674 the estate went back to Götze's widow, but was administered by her brother, the canon of Brandenburg Maximilian Friedrich von Brösicke (1649–1696), who made it in 1686 as part of a settlement with the v. Gotzeschen heirs was awarded as property. Brösicke had the desolate courtyards restored, farmers and court servants settled, a manor park laid out, and his eldest son restored the church. The alliance coat of arms of those v. Brösicke and v. Bredow.

1735–1810 the lands were owned by the Prussian major general and chief of the Gens d'armes Wolf von Pannewitz (1679–1750) and his heirs, who redesigned the property significantly. The estate received a solid country house and a number of outbuildings as well as an estate park with a pleasure house and waterfall, which was planned according to the French model. However, the village, church and estate suffered from looting and destruction by Russian soldiers in the Seven Years' War after the battle of Kunersdorf, which was lost by the Prussian troops in 1760.

In the 19th century, Schönfließ was owned by the von Veltheim family , whose first representative was Franz Wilhelm Werner von Veltheim (1785–1839), lord of Ostrau, Kösseln and Groß-Weissand. The best-known offspring of the family, however, was his nephew, chamberlain, master of ceremonies and castle captain of Wusterhausen Castle, Werner Freiherr von Veltheim (1843-1919). Under the aegis of the Veltheim family, a stately palace was built in place of the country house, the park was embellished, the church renovated and expanded. Above all, however, agriculture was intensified - Schönfließer products, especially fresh vegetables, are delivered to the German capital Berlin . Only the National Socialist period and the Second World War ended the slow prosperity of the place. In May 1945 the last members of the von Veltheim family were killed, expelled or expropriated. The last master of Schönfließ was Burghard von Veltheim, who was imprisoned in Sachsenhausen in 1945, where he died in 1951. The land was divided among new farmers.

In the 1960s , barracks were built on the outskirts of the village, in the Bieselheide , which were subordinate to the Ministry for State Security of the GDR. From 1990 onwards, new houses for around 500 families were built on this site, which increased the population fivefold from around 400 (1989) within 20 years. Since then, further new residential buildings have ensured continuous growth in the number of residents.
