The place

The townscape is essentially shaped by single-family and terraced houses. But there are also several apartment buildings, especially in the Friedrichsaue residential complex in the center of the village. In recent years, many vacant areas have been built on in Bergfelde and old buildings have been extensively renovated. In addition to housing for young families, more and more apartments for senior citizens have been built.

history

Bergfelde was first mentioned in 1349 as "Bercholtz" on a document for overwriting.

In 1653 Luise Henriette von Oranien received the village from her husband, Elector Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg . The village at that time was assigned to the Bötzow office. In the following centuries the owners changed and the population fluctuated.

The construction of the Berlin outer ring by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1953 resulted in the town being divided by the track system. With the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the connection to the immediately adjacent Berlin was initially interrupted. Bergfelde received its S-Bahn station in 1962 in the course of closing the gap in the S-Bahn connection between Blankenburg and Hohen Neuendorf on the Berlin outer ring after the wall was built.

In 1993 Bergfelde became part of the Hohen Neuendorf community. Since 1999 Hohen Neuendorf City and Bergfelde is one of four districts.
