Wolfgang Böker

Wolfgang Hans Böker (born March 22, 1933 in Jena ) is a German psychiatrist .

Life

After attending grammar school in Freiburg im Breisgau , Böker studied medicine at the University of Freiburg and Innsbruck University from 1952 to 1957 . He passed the state examination in 1957 and received his doctorate in Freiburg in 1960. From 1960 to 1967 he completed his training as a specialist in psychiatry, neurology and psychotherapy in Freiburg im Breisgau, Zurich and Heidelberg . From 1968 he was senior physician at the social psychiatric university clinic in Mannheim and lecturer at the philosophy faculty at the University of Mannheim , later head of the polyclinic. In 1972 he received his habilitation in psychiatry at the University of Heidelberg and in 1974 was appointed Scientific Councilor and Associate Professor . From 1979 he was director of the Psychiatric University Clinic Bern and full professor of psychiatry at the University of Bern . In 1998 he retired.

As head of the Bern Clinic, he began archiving work on Walter Morgenthaler's collection for the Psychiatry Museum, which had been overdue for years, in 1987, and in 1990 he founded the "Psychiatry Museum Bern Foundation", which is the owner of the museum, which opened in 1993.
