Wolfgang Lauterbach (judge)

Wolfgang Lauterbach (born October 2, 1893 in Stabelwitz near Breslau , † March 13, 1973 in Lübeck ) was a German judge and professor .

Life

Lauterbach grew up as the son of Karl Lauterbach in the village Stabelwitz in Wroclaw and made in March 1913 in Oława his high school . After that he started at the University of Breslau , the study of law and was also the Corps Silesia Wroclaw active. In 1914 he interrupted his studies to take part in the First World War as a war volunteer . In 1920 he completed his studies with the first state examination in law and received his doctorate in the same year. iur. After completing his legal clerkship in 1923, he became a judge in Berlin in 1924 , initially at the district court , in 1928 at the regional court and from 1936 at the higher court . After the Second World War , he was initially involved in the rebuilding of the administration of justice in the Central Justice Office for the British Zone in Hamburg from 1947 to 1951 . After completing this activity, he became Senate President at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg in 1951 . In 1961 he retired as a judge, but continued to work scientifically, for which he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Hamburg in 1966 .

Services

Lauterbach became one of the most outstanding legal authors of his time with his continuation of Adolf Baumbach 's commentary on the code of civil procedure . The commentary is still being reprinted annually today. In Palandt he commented on private international law from the first to the 32nd edition (1973).
