Wolfgang Müller (born July 19, 1955 in Wallenfels ) is a German cross-country skier .

Career

Wolfgang Müller competed as a member of the Hochvogel Munich ski club .

At the German Nordic Ski Championships in 1973 , he won the bronze medal. With Müller and Susanne Riermeier , two members of SC Hochvogel were part of the German national ski team for the first time in 1974 . Like Riermeier, Müller also took part in mountain runs for the club. Among other things, he took first place in the 1975 Hochfellnberg run with Wolfgang Pichler from SC Ruhpolding .

In 1977 Müller became German champion in the 50 km discipline at the German Championship . Because of the sporting successes, he and Riermeier were made honorary members of their house club. In 1978 he took part in a team with Dieter Notz , Peter and Georg Zipfel in the relay competition of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . The German team finished sixth and last place in the race. At the German championship in 1979 , Müller, together with Kurt Dotzler , Stefan Dotzler and Bernd Raupach, won the bronze medal in the relay competition for SC Hochvogel. At the German championship in 1980 he was in a team with Stefan Dotzler, Markus Pleyer and Franz Schöbel German relay champion.

He also experienced his sporting climax in 1980 as an Olympic participant in the Nordic skiing competitions in Lake Placid . In the relay competition he was able to achieve fourth place there together with Peter Zipfel, Dieter Notz and Jochen Behle . In the individual competitions he achieved 21st place over the 15 km distance and 37th place over 30 km.

Together with Stefan Dotzler, Bernd Raupach and Herbert Bauer, he won the gold medal for his club for the first time in 1985 at the Bavarian relay championship. At the German championship in 1986 Raupach won the bronze medal in the 50 km cross-country skiing and at the German championship in 1988 over the 30 km distance. In addition, he won the gold medal at the German championship in 1988 in the relay team with Walter Pichler, Franz Danner and Stefan Dotzler, as well as at the German championship in 1990 together with Stefan Dotzler, Walter Pichler and Georg Fischer .

Müller was also a member of the SC Hochvogel team, which won the 4x10km relay competitions of the clubs at the German championships in 1987 and 1988 together with Christian Maiwald , Bernd Raupach and Stefan Dotzler. He was not part of the club team in the hat trick success in 1989.

He is a federal police officer as well as a competitive sports coordinator and trainer at the federal police sports school in Bad Endorf .
