Wolfgang Paeckelmann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolfgang Wilhelm Günther Paeckelmann (born January 26 (according to another source on January 28 ) 1882 in Elberfeld , † July 20, 1970 in Wasserburg on Lake Constance ) was a German educator and co-founder and temporarily head of the German National Academic Foundation .

Live and act

After graduating from the Realgymnasium in Elberfeld in 1900 , Paeckelmann studied mathematics and natural sciences. At the same time he embarked on a career as a teacher and at the age of 18 was appointed the youngest senior teacher in Prussia. In October 1906 he was teacher in Barmen , where he in March 1920, headmaster was promoted.

In 1925 he was a co-founder of the German National Academic Foundation. During this time he was temporarily released from teaching. The experiences of hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic up to 1923 had prompted Paeckelmann to participate in the establishment of the Studienstiftung.

For a long time, for example on the occasion of a visit to Hermann Lietz in Bieberstein Castle in 1912 , he had frequent contact with the senior manager Alfred Andreesen, who was succeeding Lietz : "Both men had a profound influence on me". Paeckelmann wants to continue and develop Hermann Lietz's work in a Christian sense. In particular, the "'Freistellenwerk des Deutschen Volkes' ... would thus represent the broader substructure of the Studienstiftung ..." and thus, through its participation, contribute to the development of the 'Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes' since 1925.

In April 1928 Paeckelmann returned to school as director of the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Kassel . He stayed there until 1948.

From 1948 to 1951 Paeckelmann worked as a consultant at the Schloss Salem School in Salem and then from 1951 to 1954 Paeckelmann was in charge of the Landerziehungsheime (DLEH) of the Hermann Lietz Schools .

1952 became the senior director of studies a. D. honored with the Federal Cross of Merit at Schloss Bieberstein .

Paeckelmann retired in 1954 at the age of 72.

Private

In the 1920s Paeckelmann bought a piece of land on a small hill near Wasserburg on Lake Constance and built a shed there in the 1930s . In 1944/45 the Schopf with its fifteen square meters became a refuge for the daughter of Wolfgang and Margarethe Paeckelmann and their son. In 1954, the Paeckelmanns moved their retirement home on Lake Constance, and the Schopf, which is now known as the “house on the Pfannhalde”, was expanded.

Werner Paeckelmann is the younger brother of Paeckelmann.
