Alfred Andreesen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alfred Theodor Andreesen (born February 3, 1886 in Verden ; † October 3, 1944 in Fulda ) was a German reform pedagogue and successor to Hermann Lietz in his rural education centers .

biography

The merchant's son studied mathematics, physics, biology and philosophy in Tübingen , Berlin , Göttingen and Halle (Saale) from 1905 . During his studies he became a member of the Association of German Students in Tübingen . After receiving his doctorate in 1909, he became a teacher in the Ilsenburg educational home . From October 1, 1911, he was a teacher and deputy head of the Bieberstein Castle State Education Center in Hesse . During the First World War he took part as a lieutenant in a reserve field artillery regiment. In 1919 he took over the management of the Hermann Lietz schools on the basis of a will from Hermann Lietz (1868-1919) . In 1920 he transferred their homes to the newly established foundation “German Landerziehungsheime Hermann Lietz Schools”. He founded new educational homes: Ettersburg Castle in Thuringia in 1923 , Buchenau Castle in Hesse in 1924 , HLS on the island of Spiekeroog in 1928 and Hohenwehrda Castle in Hesse in 1941 . He preserved and carried on Hermann Lietz's legacy.

Since Andreesen was the head of the rural education centers in the Weimar Republic and the time of National Socialism , his management of the homes is controversial and is being researched. Jürgen Oelkers, for example, generally draws the conclusion that "... the Lietzsche Landerziehungsheime under the direction of Alfred Andreesen very quickly became National Socialist".
