Wolfgang Piecha

Wolfgang Piecha is a German diplomat and was ambassador to Djibouti from 2013 to 2016 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Warstein in 1969, Piecha began studying history and philology at the Philipps University of Marburg , the Free University of Berlin and the Westphalian Wilhelms University , from which he graduated in 1975 with the first state examination in Münster .

He then completed the preparatory service for the higher foreign service as an attaché between 1977 and 1979 and, after a brief assignment at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn, worked at the consulate in Istanbul between 1979 and 1982 and then at the embassy in from 1982 to 1985 Quito .

From 1985 to 1989, Piecha was again active as a consultant in the Foreign Office and then from 1989 to 1992 as Deputy Head of the Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro , before he was Deputy Head of a Department in the Foreign Office between 1992 and 1997. After serving as permanent representative of the Ambassador in Singapore from 1997 to 2000 , he first served as Legation Councilor from 2000 to 2001 and then from 2001 to 2004 as Head of Division in the Foreign Office.

He then acted as Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Indonesia between 2004 and 2007 and again as Head of Section in the Foreign Office from 2007 to 2010, before becoming Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Mexico between 2010 and 2013 .

On October 10, 2013, Piecha finally became ambassador to Djibouti and thus successor to Dietmar Bock , who in turn became consul general in Recife .
