Wolrad Ludwig Moritz Friedrich Wolff (born November 15, 1842 in Pyrmont , † July 18, 1934 in Schwerin ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and chief preacher at the grand ducal court of Mecklenburg-Schwerin .

Life

Wolff was a son of the Pyrmont superintendent Adam Wolff (1810-1854) and his wife Johanna, geb. Freybe (1814-1896). After attending grammar school in Gütersloh, he studied Protestant theology at the universities of Erlangen , Greifswald and Rostock from 1862 . At Michaelis 1865 he was the first theological Exmen in Arolsen . During his studies in 1862 he became a member of the C. St. V. Uttenruthia Erlangen . In 1868 he was a private tutor in Teschow (today part of Teterow ) and in the same year was appointed deputy principal to Bad Doberan . In 1870 he passed his second theological exam and was ordained pastor in Güstrow Cathedral .

He became an instructor with Duke Johann Albrecht and accompanied him to Dresden to the Vitzthumsche Gymnasium . From 1874 to 1882 he worked as a pastor in Slate (today part of Parchim ) and from 1882 to 1892 as the second pastor at the city ​​and court church in Ludwigslust . From 1882 he was a member of the Association for Mecklenburg History and Archeology .

In 1892 he was appointed court preacher at the castle church in Schwerin. Here he was responsible for the casualia of the grand ducal house. Among other things, he held the funeral service for Duke Friedrich Wilhelm zu Mecklenburg , the wedding of Christian X. and Alexandrine zu Mecklenburg and the confirmation of Duchess Cecilie zu Mecklenburg . In 1898 he rose to senior court preacher; in 1910 he became consistorial councilor and in 1912 secret consistorial councilor. In 1919 he retired.

In 1899 the Theological Faculty of the University of Rostock awarded him an honorary doctorate .

The teacher and politician Friedrich Franz Wolff was his son.
