Vratislav of Mitrowitz (Czech Vratislavové z Mitrovic ), also Wratislaw-Netolitzky of Mitrowitz ( Vratislav Netolický for Mitrowic and Vratislav of Mitrowitz and Schoenfeld ) is the name of a Uradelgeschlechts the lands of the Czech crown .

history

According to the Genealogical Handbook of the Nobility , the family probably takes its name from Mitrowitz near Sedletz, where Przibiko de Mitrowicz appears in a document on March 17, 1406 as patron of the church in Střesmiř.

According to a family tradition that can be traced back to the 16th century, the family derives its origin from King Vratislav II of Bohemia and appears for the first time with Wratislaw von Mitrowitz auf Skrzipel (Skripel) from around 1448 to Vladyke auf Mitrowitz, Vice-Landrichter in the Kingdom of Bohemia and Burgrave of Prague Castle, died 1464.

The first name "Wratislaw" was continued as a family name by his son Johann the Elder, on Skrzipel (Skripel), died 1503, and his grandson of the same name, Johann the Younger, on Mnisec (released from the feudal bond in 1503), died on February 14, 1520 . His son Wenzel († 1554) is the progenitor of the two houses through his sons Sebastian († 1586) and Stephan († 1577): Wratislaw von Mitrowitz and Wratislaw von Mitrowitz and Schönfeld . Zdenko Vratislav, fell in the battle of Dürnkrut and Jedenspeigen (also the battle on the Marchfeld ) on August 26, 1278. In the middle of the 14th century, the brothers Mutina Vratislav accompanied Emperor Charles IV (HRR) on his journey to Rome (1354) and Heinrich Vratislav as Grand Master of the Order of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star .

Ancestral seat of the family was Mitrovice near Sedletz , Sedlschan district in Central Bohemia, which was called Staré Mitrovice after Nové Mitrovice was founded. In the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century, the Wratislaw von Mitrowitzs acquired extensive land holdings, which were mainly in western and southern Bohemia. Over the centuries, this included the Jince estates , Vrchotovy Janovice chateau , Koloděje nad Lužnicí and Lnáře chateau, as well as Zvířetice chateau . They became an influential noble house that produced several bishops, military officers and high court officials.
