The name is taken from an alplb. Basic form * Voker'e lake surrounded by bushes derived from * vo = around, around and * ker = shrub, bush. At that time, the forest area belonged to the so-called Reiersdorfer Forest, which originally belonged to the Zehdenick Monastery , and after the monastery was secularized from 1541 to the Zehdenick Office .

Only about 200 m from the north bank was Carinhall , the representative property of Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring , which was blown up in the last days of the war. Except for a few remains of the wall, nothing of this facility has survived above ground.

About 600 m northeast of the eastern end of the Wuckersee lies the Wucker residential area, named after the lake, in the Groß Dölln district (town of Templin). In 1781, the sub-forestry Wucker was established on the way from Gollin to Joachimsthal, at the intersection with two forest roads in the Reiersdorfer Forst in an area that belonged to the Zehdenick office.
