Yared Shegumo (born January 10, 1983 in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia ) is a Polish long-distance runner of Ethiopian origin.

Career

Shegumo was born in Ethiopia and immigrated to Poland as a teenager. In 2003 he finally received Polish citizenship . Between 2008 and 2010 he temporarily lived in Great Britain in order to be able to make a living. In his youth, he mainly competed on short distances and won several medals. In 2012 he made his marathon debut . By winning the silver medal in the marathon at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich , he achieved his greatest success as a track and field athlete to date. He currently lives and trains in Warsaw .
