Yoshitoki Ōima

Yoshitoki Ōima ( 大 今 良 時 Ōima Yoshitoki , born March 15, 1989 in Ōgaki , Gifu Prefecture ) is a Japanese mangaka who became famous for her work A Silent Voice .

Life

Yoshitoki Ōima was born on March 15, 1989 to a sign language interpreter in Ōgaki , Gifu Prefecture , and has an older sister and an older brother. She came up with the idea of A Silent Voice as a manga through her mother . Ōima was supported by her mother and sister in developing the manga. In 2008 she submitted A Silent Voice to a newcomer competition organized by Weekly Shōnen Magazine , where she won first prize. A publication of the manga shortly after the competition was initially not implemented due to the publisher's concerns about the subject matter. It only appeared as One Shot in 2011 , where it met with great approval and was published as a manga series from 2013.

Her first manga is Mardock Scramble and was first published in 2009 and is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Tow Ubukata . She was also responsible for the illustration of the end sequence in the ninth episode of the anime series Attack on Titan .
