Yves Rüedi (born September 30, 1976 ; resident in Glarus and Münchwilen TG ) is a Swiss lawyer and federal judge . He is a member of the SVP .

Life

Yves Rüedi studied at the University of St. Gallen , where he obtained a doctorate in law . He spent research stays at Harvard Law School , Yale Law School , Stanford Law School and Aix-Marseille Université and had lectureships at the Universities of St. Gallen and Lucerne . He worked for the commercial law firm Pestalozzi Rechtsanwälte in Zurich , where he was also admitted to the bar .

The Landsgemeinde elected Rüedi on May 7, 2006 as President of the High Court of the Canton of Glarus . After the District Administrator of the Canton of Glarus on April 23, 2008, at the proposal of the government, appointed him a member of the Bar Commission, he was appointed President of the Bar Commission and the Bar Examination Commission. The Federal Assembly elected Rüedi on December 21, 2011 with 208 out of 208 valid votes as part-time federal judge and on December 11, 2013 with 198 out of 200 valid votes as ordinary federal judge.

Rüedi presided over the Balm Foundation for people with intellectual disabilities. In his spare time he does endurance sports; In 2001 he qualified for the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Championship , and in 2017 he repeated this exploit. In the official annual ranking of the World Triathlon Corporation , he was named 2018 Gold All World Athlete. This made him one of the strongest percent of his age group worldwide.
