Zapel is a part of the municipality in the Pröttlin district of the Karstädt municipality in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is 2 kilometers south of Pröttlin, 11 kilometers northeast of Lenzen (Elbe) , 12 kilometers west-northwest of Karstädt and 22 kilometers northwest of Perleberg . The neighboring towns are Pröttlin in the north, Sargleben in the northeast, Seetz in the southeast, Mellen in the southeast, Rambow in the south, Steesow in the southwest, Deibow in the west and Milow in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Zapel can be found in 1312 in the spelling Stapel . Later documents give the place in further spellings: 1349 Zapel , 1493 tho Zapell and 1541 Sapel .

Around 1800 the place belonged to the district of Lenzen in the Prignitz , part of the Kurmark of the Mark Brandenburg and in 1816 it came to the district of Westprignitz ; from 1939 named as the district of Westprignitz. From 1952 he belonged to the Perleberg district in the Schwerin district .
