The Zaubertalbach (formerly Zellbach or Wachbergbachl) flows through the Zaubertal towards the Danube .

The Zaubertal is accessed from Linz on the so-called Zaubertalstraße in 1954. The Zaubertalstraße leads from Margarethen in the urban area of Linz via Frieseneggerstraße to Holzheimerstraße in Leonding.

religion

The parish Linz St. Margarethen im Zaubertal, which has been independent since 1980, publishes the Zaubertalkurier as a parish journal. There is said to have been a hermit hermitage on the Zaubertalbach as early as the 8th and 9th centuries. The stream was therefore formerly called Zellbach. The first church of St. Margret with a sacristan's house and cemetery stood on the Danube on the property of Villa Margarethen, Zaubertalstrasse 5, and was first mentioned in 1381. It was destroyed by floods in 1786 and was never rebuilt. Today's parish church was built between 1651 and 1654 as the Linz Kalvarienbergkirche and stands on a rocky promontory high above the Danube. Half of the parish area extends to the urban area of Linz and the other half to that of Leonding.
