Zhaotong ( 昭通 市 , Zhāotōng Shì ) is a district-free city in the northeast of the Chinese province of Yunnan . The area has about 5.5 million inhabitants. 255,861 people live in the actual urban settlement area of Zhaotong (2010 census).
Administrative structure
At the county level, Zhaotong is made up of eleven areas. These are:
- District Zhaoyang -昭阳区Zhaoyang Qū ;
- Ludian district - 鲁甸 县Lǔdiàn Xiàn ;
- District Qiaojia -巧家县Qiǎojiā Xiàn ;
- Circle Yanjin -盐津县Yanjin Xiàn ;

- Circle Yongshan -永善县Yǒngshàn Xiàn ;
- Suijiang County - 绥江 县Suíjiāng Xiàn ;
- Circle Zhenxiong -镇雄县Zhenxiong Xiàn ;
- Circle Yiliang -彝良县Yiliang Xian ;
- Weixin County - 威信 县Wēixìn Xiàn ;
- Circle Shuifu -水富县Shuǐfù Xiàn .
