Zhuangwei ( Chinese 壯 圍 鄉 , Pinyin Zhuàngwéi Xiāng , Pe̍h-ōe-jī Chòng-ûi-hiong ), also Jhuangwei , is a rural community in the northern Taiwanese district of Yilan .
Location and importance
Zhuangwei is located on the east coast of the island of Taiwan and borders the Pacific Ocean . The community crossed by the Lanyang River was reclaimed by Chinese immigrants at the beginning of the 19th century and is still dominated by agriculture today, with rice , pumpkins and spring onions among the most important products . Fishing (deep sea and beach fishing), which was an important branch of business in the past, is hardly of any economic importance today.
The coast of Zhuangwei is a popular destination for visitors from the northern Taiwanese metropolises. The Yongzhen Coastal Park deserves a special mention here , from whose sandy beach you have a good view of the island of Guishan Dao .
