Zlatan Arnautović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Златан Арнаутовић , born September 2, 1956 in Prijedor ) is a former Yugoslav handball player . Considered one of the best Yugoslav goalkeepers of all time, he was trained by goalkeeping legend Abas Arslanagić . Arnautović himself is considered to be the discoverer and mentor of Danijel Šarić .

Career

The 1.94 m tall goalkeeper, who weighed 93 kg when he was active, began his career at RK Borac Banja Luka , with whom he won the Yugoslav Cup in 1979 and became the Yugoslav champion in 1981. In 1986 he moved to FC Barcelona , with whom he only won the Catalan league in his only season. After a stint at Lagisa Naranco, he returned to Borac in 1989 and won the IHF Cup in 1990/91 .

In the Yugoslav national team Zlatan Arnautović made his debut in Dortmund in 1978 against Germany . At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, he finished sixth. Four years later he became Olympic champion at the Los Angeles Olympics. He won the title at the 1986 World Cup . In total, Arnautović played 157 international matches , in which he also managed exactly one goal.

Zlatan Arnautović worked from 2006 as the goalkeeping coach of the Tunisian national team under Sead Hasanefendić . From 2007 he was goalkeeping and assistant coach at the Serbian club RK Roter Stern Belgrade until he left the club in June 2011 after an assault by club manager Nenad Peruničić .
