Zoe Jones , divorced Wood , Wilkinson (born January 14, 1980 in Swindon , United Kingdom ) is an English figure skater . She is a two-time British Champion (2000 & 2001) in the individual run. She reached the final of three ISU competitions and was qualified for the 1998 Olympic Games , but could not take part due to an injury.
Personal
Zoe Jones was born on January 14, 1980 in Swindon , United Kingdom, is divorced from Dody Wood and is now married to Matthew Wilkinson. She is the mother of twin sisters, Zarah and Zinia, born in 2007, and a boy, Zkai, born in 2012. She lived in Canada for almost ten years before returning to England.
Career
Single run
Jones began figure skating at the Link Center in Swindon when he was five. At the beginning of her career, her trainer was Lesley Norfolk-Pearce.
At the end of 1995 Jones took part in the Junior World Championships in Brisbane , Australia and reached tenth place in qualifying group A and 19th place in the short program. She was 22nd in the freestyle and overall. At the end of 1996 at the Junior World Championships in Seoul , South Korea , she was 20th in the short program, 17th in the freestyle and was 18th overall. At the 1997 World Figure Skating Championships , she was eliminated in qualifying group B as 18th.
In October 1997, Jones attended the Karl Schäfer Memorial to qualify for the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano , Japan . She finished sixth for Great Britain , but the British Olympic Association had higher qualifying standards - a certain number of different triple jumps in the British Championships. Jones tore his Achilles tendon a week before the British Championships and took a year to recover.
In the 2000-01 season Jones won the first of two national titles and started at the 2001 European Championships in Bratislava , Slovakia . For the third time in her career she reached the final, seventh place in qualification group A, 17th in the short program, 19th in the freestyle and 17th overall. In March she starts at the 2001 World Cup in Vancouver , Canada and was eliminated as 16th in her qualifying group. She trained with Joy Sutcliffe in Ayr .
The next season, Jones crashed four times in the free skating at the British Championships. Because of many mistakes by the other participants, she was still British champion, but NISA did not send her to the European and World Championships. Jones retired from competitive sports at the end of the season and coached Canada for nearly a decade.
In 2014 , Jones took part in the ISU Adult Figure Skating Competition under the name Wood and took two first places in Masters (Elite) Ladies I Artistic and Free Skating with the highest number of points achieved in the freestyle of 71.33 points. In 2015 she was able to repeat her success at the Adult Figure Skating Competition and for the last time competed as Zoe Wood. In December 2015, at 35, she took part in the British Championships as Zoe Wilkinson; she won the freestyle and was runner-up overall, 0.09 points down on first place. At first she was declared the winner until a mistake was found.
Pair skating
After an attempt in April 2016, Wilkinson and Christopher Boyadji began pair skating at the Better Link Center in Swindon . Their first joint competition was the Ondrej Nepela Memorial, where they finished sixth. Since 2017 she starts again under her maiden name Jones.
