history

The Zollhaus settlement goes back to the Zollhaus on the Chaussee between Cottbus and Senftenberg . A first customs house was built in 1734 because Zuckerstrasse ran at this point . The building complex was expanded in 1914, and the neighboring pull-out house was built around the same time . After the customs house had been serviced, the building was used as an inn, and during the Second World War the house was used as a military hospital. In the meantime, a small development settlement was built between the customs house and the Bahnsdorf.

Since July 25, 1952, the customs house, which administratively belonged to the municipality of Bahnsdorf , belonged to the Senftenberg district in the Cottbus district . During the GDR era, the customs house was used by the local agricultural production cooperative. Some of the outbuildings belonging to the ensemble burned down during GDR times. After the fall of the Wall , the customs house stood empty for a long time before it was bought by an entrepreneur from Dörrwalde in the late 1990s . The building has since been sold again.

On February 1, 2002, the community of Bahnsdorf merged with three other communities to form the new community of New Zealand , and since then Zollhaus has been an official residential area of this new community.
