geography
Zootzen is located in a Havel lowlands in northern Brandenburg. It is located on Landstrasse 214, between the main town of Fürstenberg (6 km away) and Bredereiche (3 km). Not far from the village is the Stolpsee and the Havel flows .
history
In connection with the compulsory meal of grain in the Bredereicher Mühle, Zootzen was mentioned for the first time in 1309 as Zozene . In 1317 the settlement became the property of the Himmelpfort monastery . In 1342 Zootzen was destroyed and abandoned during the border war between Mecklenburg and Brandenburg.
A new settlement did not take place until the 18th century. In 1749 the first farmsteads laid the foundation for the development of the village. In the same year the Zootzen colony was founded. In 1758 the prayer house was inaugurated , which also served as a school. This prayer house burned down in 1854 and was rebuilt in 1858.
From 1952 Zootzen belonged to the Gransee district . In 1960 an LPG was founded.
Zootzen was incorporated into Fürstenberg / Havel on October 26, 2003.

Culture and sights
Probably the oldest landmark of the village is a linden tree, which is over 200 years old, also called a thick linden tree , on Lindenstrasse. It was planted around 1749 by Teerschweler Johann Christian Lexow, the first village mayor in Zootzen. It has a trunk circumference of approx. 6.5 meters, a height of approx. 15 meters and a massive tree top marked by lightning strikes.
Immediately on the country road that runs through the village is one of the many houses that are worth seeing, the House of Hope parish hall of the Zootzen parish. The half-timbered house with a wooden belfry was re-inaugurated in 1995 after renovation.
In front of the cemetery there is a boulder memorial for the men of the village who fell and went missing in the First World War (1914–1918). A large stone with an iron cross on which the names of the soldiers are carved rests on a pedestal.
