Zoran Vulić (born October 4, 1961 in Split ) is a former Yugoslav and Croatian soccer player and soccer coach .
Player career
society
The versatile defender Vulić began his professional career in the 1978/79 season at Hajduk Split in the Yugoslav first division. In the following years he was there twice Yugoslav Cup winner and played 1983/84 with Hajduk in the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup .
In 1988 he moved to the second Spanish division for RCD Mallorca , where he was promoted to the first division of Spain . After two seasons in the first division Vulić moved in 1991 to the French first division for FC Nantes , in whose team he saw a red card in the French Cup final in 1993 and was defeated by Paris Saint-Germain .
He then returned to his hometown club Hajduk, which now played in the Croatian first division , and ended his playing career there after winning the double in the summer of 1995.
National team
For the Yugoslav national football team Vulić made his debut on April 30, 1986 in a friendly in Brazil . At the soccer world championship in 1990 he was used four times, u. a. in the 1: 4 in the preliminary round against Germany and in the elimination on penalties against Argentina in the quarter-finals.
Overall, Vulić played 25 times for Yugoslavia and scored one goal (in his last game on May 16, 1991 against the Faroese national team ).
For the Croatian national football team , Vulić played in their debut after the declaration of independence on October 17, 1990 against the USA and in two other games in 1991 and 1993.
successes
Coaching career
At the end of the 1997/98 season, the former captain Hajduks took over responsibility for the coaching bench for the first time as a temporary solution. In August 2000 he was the second time coach of the first team and won the Croatian championship title the following summer. During his third engagement with the "Whites" from summer 2002 to spring 2004, he won the Croatian Cup in 2003 and was dismissed three game days before the end of 2004 and his successor then won the championship again. In the 2006/07 season he was employed for the fourth time as Hajduk's coach until his dismissal on April 10, 2007.
In addition, Vulić was assistant coach at the side of Otto Barić at the EURO 2004 and trained in 2008 Lutsch-Energija Vladivostok in the Russian Premier League .
Since February 28, 2010 he has been the main coach at NK Istra 1961 .
