Zuckermanns Farm - Wilbur im Glück (original title: Charlotte's Web ) is a full-length animated film - musical by Hanna-Barbera from 1973. It is based on the novel Wilbur and Charlotte (original title: Charlotte's Web ) by EB White . In 2003 the sequel Schweinchen Wilbur's great adventure appeared , which was produced directly for the video and DVD market.

action

On the farm of Homer Zuckerman lives a young pig named Wilbur. When Wilbur learns that he is about to be slaughtered , he panics . But then he meets the spider Charlotte, who weaves words into her web and tries to convince the farmer that Wilbur is an extraordinary animal that should not be slaughtered.

Production and publication

The film was produced by Hanna-Barbera , directed by Charles A. Nichols and Iwao Takamoto. The music for the film was composed by the Sherman brothers .

The film was released by Paramount Pictures in the United States on March 1, 1973. It premiered in New York City on February 22, 1973. The film was released on March 30, 1973 in West Germany , on August 11 in Sweden and on August 25 in Japan .

The German dubbing took place at Berliner Synchron . Fritz A. Koeniger wrote the dialogue book, Friedrich Schoenfelder , who also spoke the narrator, directed the dialogue.

EB White was not satisfied with the cinematic implementation of his novel. He said of the film, “The story pauses every few minutes so someone can sing a happy song. I don't think much of happy songs. ” And described it as “ Disney World with 75 trumpets ” .

In 2000, Marjorie Baumgarten wrote in the Austin Chronicle that the animation in this film was better than the mediocrity of other Hanna Barbera productions and the selection of speakers was excellent.
