Two idiots as gunslingers (original title: Franco e Ciccio sul sentiero di guerra ) is a film from the series of comedies that Franco & Ciccio shot , often as a genre or direct film parodies , between 1964 and 1973. Directs this satire of spaghetti Westerns led Aldo Grimaldi ; the film was released in German cinemas on April 18, 1975, six years after its premiere, in a 12-minute shortened form.

Franco and Ciccio are two soldiers of the Sicilian army who have to flee after Garibaldi's arrival. They smuggle themselves out of the country in coffins and are shipped to America, where they, penniless and strangers, are left to fend for themselves.

The two stupid friends enroll in the American army and are summoned to Indian battles in the West, where, despite their ignorance and misfortunes, through a series of unbelievable circumstances they manage to repel the attack by the Indians and help the army to victory.

The sudden discovery of a mistake forces the two of them to flee into the desert, where they find shelter with the Indians and where they will stay after marrying the chief's daughters.

criticism

The lexicon of international films , which complained about the "annoying nonsense comedy with the stupid duo Franchi and Ingrassia", was unhappy. Christian Keßler stated that the two main actors proved again that dignity is a subjunctive and grimaced across country. The film is unoriginal and a hodgepodge of ideas and props from third-hand, judged and the domestic film.tv .
