Zwiespalt (Schwarz) is the fourth solo album by the Berlin rapper Basstard . It was released on June 12, 2009 as a double album on the independent label Horrorkore Entertainment and is distributed by Soulfood Music Distribution GmbH . The rapper's first single was previously released under the title Monster Monster . The style of the album is the hip hop subgenre horrorcore . After the release of the album Zwiespalt (Grau) , Zwiespalt (Schwarz) is the second part of an album trilogy that the rapper completed in 2011 with Zwiespalt (Weiss) .

concept

Conceptually, the three parts of the "Zwiespalt" trilogy should cover different musical orientations of the rapper Basstard. While Zwiespalt (Weiss) , which was released third, will contain positive pieces, Zwiespalt (Grau) , with the release of which the album trilogy began in 2008, served to cover various topics with positive and negative as well as personal and political pieces. With Zwiespalt (Schwarz) , Basstard orientates itself on the music genre of the horror core, which takes up topics such as murder, death or the occult. In an interview prior to the appearance of Zwiespalt (Schwarz) , the rapper announced this as "the angriest and most evil album" that he had ever made. The term "dichotomy" used in the titles of the albums describes the good and bad side that is inherent in every human being. Although the completion of the recordings for Zwiespalt (Weiss) was completed before Zwiespalt (Schwarz) , Basstard decided to bring forward the publication of Zwiespalt (Schwarz) .

Texts

In the intro interview with a monster , Basstard is visited and questioned by the Juice editor Marc Leopoldseder. During this questioning, Basstard alternates between the two perspectives of the normal person and the "monster".

The title The Messiah (Mirin Dajo) deals with the resurrection of the Messiah after the crucifixion. In the chorus, Basstard exclaims that one should pray that he would forgive the execution. Basstard dedicated the piece to the Dutchman Mirin Dajo , who was pierced with a foil in front of an audience in 1947 without bleeding or injuries. Dajo passed away after one of the other presentations in front of an audience. In an interview, the rapper explained his view that Dajo was the resurrected Jesus because he, too, preached peace. Basstard also said that he was scared of the piece The Messiah (Mirin Dajo) because he only got to know Dajo after the title was finished.

production

The songs are based on hip-hop beats produced by various musicians. While the Berlin Woroc is most frequently represented with three titles in the first part of the Zwiespalt trilogy , it was not involved in the production of Zwiespalt (Schwarz) . The main producer of the album is High Hat, who beats the songs Hello , Monster Monster , Encounter of the 3rd Kind , Until the Death , Viva la Revolucione , Ade and Horrorkore Anthem as well as, in collaboration with DJ Korx, Song of the Grim Reaper and In the small town and contributed together with Dystrust Medusa and Paranormal . In addition to Dystrust and High Hat, Satanatas was also involved in the creation of the song Paranormal . He also produced Interview with a Monster . A further majority of the pieces are underlaid with a beat from Hustle Heart. They can be heard on the titles The Circus , 666 Ways , Gut & Böse 2 , Kryptonit , Fick 1. Mai and Schwarz . SDBY has produced Camera Obscura and Own World 2 , Viobeatz Cannibalism , Cardinal Blunt and FAK Sturm , The Ecke & Lloyds Near Future and Pasha Geez The Messiah (Mirin Dajo) . In addition, Alabassstar contributed the beat to The Dark Puppeteer , Djorkaeff and Beatzarre to Hafenbeckenschlächter and Raiden Beats to Tschak Norriz .

marketing

Before the album was released, a single for the track Monster Monster was released on May 15th . With this Basstard released his first single ever. Monster Monster contains the original version of the title, a remix by hip-hop musician Frauenarzt , a remix by DJ Korx, a remix by Flash Gorden, a remix by High Hat, the instrumental and a cappella versions as well as the additional ones Songs horror core Anthem , Soulless and Do you smell the whisper 2 . A video was also shot for the single, the cost of which amounted to 4,000 euros. Basstard took over the financing of the clip. The Internet platform MySpace refused to show the clip of Monster Monster , despite negotiations with Basstard in advance .

For the German hip-hop magazine Juice , Basstard recorded the title Unterwegs zu dich with the performers Medizin Mann and Papa Geno . The track was produced by High Hat and Spek and was released exclusively on Juice CD # 96.

criticism

Zwiespalt (Schwarz) was only discussed by representatives of the media who deal with German rap, outside of which the publication received little attention. The hip-hop magazine Juice described the album as “the best album to date” by Basstard, and combined it with a rating of four and a half out of a possible six “crowns”. In the justification, his flow has been greatly improved since the publication of his first tape. Furthermore, Basstard serves the topics that the listener expects and uses beats that are "always appropriate to the respective topic". From the point of view of the editors, the guest contributions also fit into the various concepts of the pieces. Zwiespalt (Schwarz) should be heard in full so that the listener can let it sink in, but the titles The Dark Puppeteer , Hafenbeckenschlächter , Camera Obscura and Fick 1. Mai are mentioned as special highlights . In summary, the review states that there is a lot to discover on Basstard's album.
