Migration of the cyclone

The cyclone formed on May 4, 2019 over the Banda Sea in eastern Indonesia . It caused floods, landslides and other damage in the southwestern Moluccas and in the east of East Timor .

In the villages of Laitutun ( Leti Island ), Tounwawan ( Moa Island ) and Ostluang (Luang Timur, Luang Island ) there were floods of up to 1.5 meters. Several houses and public facilities were damaged.

Although Lili was no longer the strength of a cyclone, she caused numerous damage in East Timor on May 11th . In Laga , the flooding in a river damaged the important coastal road, which now impedes passage. The access to a bridge over the Irebere , on the border between the municipalities of Lautém and Viqueque , was destroyed, so that the connection was completely interrupted. A second bridge in Uma Boco was damaged even more severely. The road from Lautéms main town Lospalos towards the state capital Dili became difficult to pass due to mud and rain, especially for the local buses. In an area near Lospalos, the main road was completely flooded. Fuiloro residents reported strong winds and heavy rains. Floods threatened a local bridge. Between Viqueque and Beaco , a truck got stuck in the waters of a river after it was swollen by the storm.

The effects of Lili could also be felt in other parts of eastern Indonesia and as far as the Kimberley in western Australia .
