Paul Joseph Krebs (born May 26, 1912 in New York City , †  September 17, 1996 in Hallandale , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1965 and 1967 he represented the state of New Jersey in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Paul Krebs attended public schools in his home country, including high school. He then worked as a career advisor. He only became politically active in the 1950s. Between 1954 and 1961 he was president of the CIO union in New Jersey. From 1961 to 1965 he chaired the United Auto Workers Council at the state level. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1958 and 1970 he was a member of its Essex County board of directors .

In the 1964 congressional elections , Krebs was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the twelfth constituency of New Jersey , where he succeeded George M. Wallhauser on January 3, 1965 . Since he refused to run again in 1966, he could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1967 . These were shaped by the events of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement .

After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Paul Krebs was the head of the New Jersey Consumer Protection Agency. In 1972 he ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate . He died on September 17, 1996 in Hallandale.
