The following is a list of the Argentine names for various places in the Falkland Islands. TYhey are all in Spanish and many of them are quite different in origin to their English equivalents. Many of the Spanish names have religious resonances.
Please note that these names are almost never used by residents of the islands themselves, and some of them, such as "las Malvinas" and "Puerto Argentino" may be considered offensive by them. The use of English names is likewise offensive to Argentines[citation needed].
The following are names which use the same form in English and Spanish - Darwin, San Carlos, Salvador, Rincón Grande
