CR Airways Ltd (中富航空) is a Hong Kong-based airline. It operates scheduled regional flights from Hong Kong to mainland China. It also operates business charter flights. Hong Kong International Airport serves as its hub.

History

The airline was established in 2001 and started operations on 5 July 2003. It was the first aircraft operator to receive its air operator's certificate since Hong Kong became a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China. Mr. WD RAN became the Chairman of the board on Aug 15th 2006. On December 19 2005, the airline acknowledged that HNA Group (the parent of Hainan Airlines, the largest private airline in China) is negotiating to acquire up to 60% of CR Airways.

In 2006, Hainan Airlines was permitted to take partial ownership of the airline (45%), and a change in the management structure was put in place.

Services

CR Airways' route structure evolves quite rapidly as new routes are tested to see if they can generate profitable levels of traffic, and as the fleet has evolved from CRJs to the current three B737-800s. As of 1 October 2006 the routes served are as follows; all of the destinations are in China. Previous routes to various S E Asian destinations are no longer flown.
