Article List
Possible Good Article, B Grade candidates:
To Do list
Feel free to add your own suggestions below.
Player biographies
- Major improvements needed
- Stephen Hendry
- Ronnie O'Sullivan (mostly per WP:NPOV, WP:WEASEL, WP:PEACOCK)
- Jimmy White
- Tom Dennis (one of the most incomplete snooker bio stubs)
- Mark J. Williams (one of the worst snooker bio stubs)
- Matthew Stevens article copied from answer.com - complete rewriting needed
- Other biographies to do
- Mark Williams (English snooker player) (or Mark X. Williams where X is his middle initial) - needed to disambuate between the two Mark Williamses of snooker, even if this one's not tremendously notable; just a stub with stats and middle initial would do
- Fred Lawrence - 1928 World Championship runner-up
- Sidney Smith - 1938 & 1939 World Championship runner-up
- Fred Van Rensburg - 1965 World Championship runner-up
- Jamie Jones - Competitor at the 2006 Grand Prix
- Paul Davison - Competitor at the 2006 Grand Prix
- Ben Woollaston - Competitor at the 2006 Grand Prix
- Tom Ford - Competitor at the 2006 Grand Prix, 2007 Malta Cup
- Andrew Norman - Competitor at the 2006 Grand Prix
- Joven Alba and Leonardo Andam - redlinks from Alex Pagulayan; Snooker Team Gold Medalists at the 2005 SEA Games
David Gilbert - Qualifier for 2007 World Snooker Championshipdone but is a real stub at the momentJoe Delaney - Qualifier for 2007 World Snooker Championship- Biographies have been done for all players who have ever won a ranking tournament. It would be nice to have biographies for all players that have ever been in the top 16; those known to be remaining are:
- IBSF champs: Lots of players are redlinked at 2006 IBSF World Championship
- Add infobox
- Replace old subst'd infobox
Things to do
- Develop assessment criteria FAQ for snooker articles and create a new talk page template to accompany the ratings, like the Template:WP-Tennis and Template:Football templates.
- Update biography articles to use {{Infobox Snooker player}}
- Check all player biographies to verify content. Look at tournament wins to see if all tournaments won by the player are listed.
- Main article Snooker needs some tidying up.
- Watch over Highest snooker break and List of snooker players.
- Improve the International Billiards and Snooker Federation article.
- Create Snooker ranking tournaments (or Ranking snooker tournaments or Ranking tournaments (snooker)), to explain the concept, give the history and list the events; a start has been posted to Talk:Snooker world rankings
- Create
Maximum snooker break(Different from highest snooker break, but Highest snooker break already covers this???), IBSF World Snooker Championship IBSF World Billards Championship and articles. - Keep Portal:Snooker up to date - e.g., if you add news to World Snooker Championship 2007 update the portal's news section perhaps.
Create a template to link all the snooker season articles together.- Sort out the Category:Snooker and all sub-categories.
- Identify and add stub stags to stub articles using the templates below.
- Expand the stubs in Category:Snooker stubs and Category:Snooker biography stubs.
- Add content to World Championship pages.
- Update snooker player infoboxes after every season (and relevant events), and tournament pages after event has finished.
- Get a snooker-related article nominated as a Good Article (starting with Snooker itself)
- Create illustrative and detailed article section at Cue stick on snooker cues, which differ (typically) in a number of ways from cues used in pool and carom billiards (length, flat area on the butt, where the joint is, metal ferrule, and most importantly the smaller tip).
- Update bio and other articles for ranking tournament wikilinks; many incoming readers have no idea how the r.t. system works.
- EBSA needs an article.
- IBSF World Championship needs an article (there is one for 2007 in particular, but it just covers the stats).
- Clean up 2007 Malta Cup (snooker) — see its talk page for details; short version: No intro, no flags (please use
{{flag|ENG}}
, etc. - at least a country abbreviation is important), and the Polish version of the article is better! :-0 - Snooker season 2000/2001 is missing some basic data.
- 1981 UK Snooker Championship seems to be hosed. The finals chart does not appear to agree with the "Competition proper" list; meanwhile, some basic data is missing (marked with {{TBD}}), and it needs more tables instead of messy lists. (the latter is true of many other articles in that series)
