(125076) Michelmayor is an asteroid of the main inner belt , which was discovered by the Swiss physics teacher and amateur astronomer Michel Ory at the Jura Observatory ( IAU code 185) in Vicques in the canton of Jura on October 19, 2001. Ory was director of the observatory.

Mean distance from the Sun ( major semiaxis ), eccentricity and inclination of the orbit plane of the asteroid correspond in the broader sense to the Vesta family , a large group of asteroids named after (4) Vesta , the second largest asteroid and third largest celestial body in the main belt.

(125076) Michelmayor is named after the Swiss astronomer Michel Mayor , who discovered Dimidium (51 Pegasi b), the first exoplanet . The asteroid was named on August 21, 2013.
