(180824) Kabos is an asteroid of the main inner belt that was discovered on April 2, 2005 by the Hungarian amateur astronomer Krisztián Sárneczky at the Piszkéstető Observatory ( IAU code 561) in the northern Hungarian Mátra Mountains on behalf of the Budapest Konkoly Observatory . Despite its weak absolute brightness of 20 to 20.5 mag, it could be observed again on the four following nights at the Piszkéstetői Obszervatórium.
The asteroid was named on December 28, 2012 after the Hungarian film comedian of the 1930s Gyula Kabos (1887–1941).
