(2447) Kronstadt is an asteroid of the central main belt , which was discovered by the Soviet astronomer Tamara Smirnova on August 13, 1973 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095). The asteroid had already been sighted in 1961 under the provisional designation 1961 TD 1 at the Goethe Link Observatory in Indiana and on October 26, 1965 (1965 UC) at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj.

The solar orbit of (2447) Kronstadt is strongly elliptical with an eccentricity of 0.2644 .

The asteroid was named on February 8, 1982 after Kronstadt , a city and former fortress on the Baltic island of Kotlin off Saint Petersburg in Russia . It is particularly emphasized in the naming text that Kronstadt played an important role in the defense of Saint Petersburg from German attacks during World War II .
