(2522) Triglav is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on August 6, 1980 by the Czech astronomer Zdeňka Vávrová at the Kle Observ observatory ( observatory code 046) near the town of Český Krumlov in southern Bohemia .

The asteroid was named after the Slavic war and tribal god Triglaw , who was worshiped by the Pomorans, especially in Wollin and Stettin .

(2522) Triglav belongs to the Eos family, a group of asteroids, which typically have large semi-axes from 2.95 to 3.1 AU , bounded inward by the Kirkwood gap of the 7: 3 resonance with Jupiter , and orbital inclinations between 8 ° and 12 °. The group is named after the asteroid (221) Eos . The family is believed to have emerged from a collision more than a billion years ago.
