(2553) Viljev ( 1979 FS 2 ; 1940 CK ; 1954 UA 1 ; 1956 AU ; 1968 HT ; 1978 EV 1 ; A899 PG ) is an approximately 14 kilometers large asteroid of the main outer belt that was destroyed on March 29, 1979 by the Russian (then : Soviet Union ) astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory (Nautschnyj branch) on the Crimean peninsula ( IAU code 095).

designation

(2553) Viljev was named after the astronomer Michail Anatoljewitsch Wiljew (1893–1910), who carried out theoretical studies on celestial mechanics .
