(8847) Huch is an asteroid of the outer main belt that was discovered by the German astronomers Freimut Börngen and Lutz D. Schmadel on October 12, 1990 at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis . According to the SMASS classification ( Small Main-Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey ), a spectroscopic study by Gianluca Masi , Sergio Foglia and Richard P. Binzel at (8847) Huch assumed a light surface, so it could, roughly speaking, be around trade an S asteroid .

The timeless (non- osculating ) orbital elements of (8847) Huch are almost identical to those of five smaller ones, if one considers the absolute brightness of 15.0, 15.8, 16.9, 16.8 and 16.9 compared to 13, 5, asteroids: (57970) 2002 NT 13 , (115907) 2003 WP 1 , (299727) 2006 RX 41 , (321124) 2008 UA 52 and (356791) 2011 UK 314 .

The track from (8847) Huch was secured in 1998 so that numbering could be assigned. The asteroid was named after the German writer and poet Ricarda Huch on October 5 of the same year at the suggestion of Freimut Börngen . Another asteroid named after Ricarda Huch is the (879) Ricarda discovered in 1917 .
