Ásahreppur is an Icelandic municipality in the Suðurland region in southern Iceland .
On January 1, 2019, the community had 248 inhabitants.
geography
The parish consists of two separate areas about 60 km apart. The southern part of the Sprengisandur route runs through the much larger part in the east . Here are the Þórisvatn and the Hágöngulón , which extends to the western foothills of the Vatnajökull .
The lake Sultartangalón is located in the municipality triangle between the northern part of Ásahreppur, Skeiða- og Gnúpverjahreppur and Rangárþing ytra .
The western part of Ásahreppur crosses the ring road between Hella and Selfoss for about 8 km .
There are no towns in the municipality.
