Çaycuma is a city and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Zonguldak in the Black Sea region . The city is 45 kilometers (as the crow flies: 23 km) east of the provincial capital Zonguldak on the D010 highway. The Filyos Çayı River flows through the city and flows into the Black Sea about 16 km further north. According to the city seal, Çaycuma received the status of a Belediye (municipality) as early as 1889.
The district, created in 1944, is located in the east of the province and borders the Bartın province in the east . Internal borders are the Kilimli districts and the central district ( Merkez ) Zonguldak in the west and the Gökçebey district in the south.
The district is divided into the district town (29.7% of the district population) and another five Belediye :

- Filyos (4,945 pop.)
There are also 83 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 572 inhabitants. Ten villages have over a thousand inhabitants:

The rural district's population density (186.1) is higher than that of the province (179.5 inh. Per km²), the urban population is 48.18%.
Çaycuma's main employer is the OYKA paper mill (formerly SEKA ). Furthermore, Çaycuma has numerous industrial areas.
Since opening in 2007, Zonguldak-Çaycuma Airport (about 9 km north of Çaycuma) has been open to international air traffic.
On April 7, 2012, a bridge collapsed in Çaycuma, causing a minibus to fall into the river. At least five dead were recovered.
