The Ölbach is a 5.4 km long creek together with its longer upper course in the Main-Tauber district in the north of Baden-Württemberg , which flows in Dittwar to the left into the Muckbach .

The Ölbach arises at about 270 m above sea level. NN about a kilometer west of the outskirts of Dittwar, a district of Tauberbischofsheim , and runs eastwards towards the place, crosses it in the same direction and takes the Eisgrundgraben from the right just before the crossing street Am Spielplatz from the right , its only significant tributary . Immediately after the stream has crossed under the Süssbrücke, it enters an underground pit at the beginning of Grasbergstrasse, which continues in its direction even after the end of the street. Finally, the Verdolung crosses Landstrasse 578 on the eastern edge of the village and flows into the lower Muckbach on the other side from the left and west .
The Ölbach is 5.4 km long together with its right upper course, the Reissberggraben, which is much longer than the left , and only 2.2 km from its confluence with the smaller road ditch .
Catchment area
The 9.3 km² catchment area of the Ölbach lies in an altitude range between about 406 m above sea level. NN near the water reservoir of Esselbrunn in the southwest corner of the catchment area a little above the origin of the Reißberggraben and a little below 220 m above sea level. NN at the mouth on the eastern edge of Dittwar. In the east and southeast the catchment area of the middle and upper Muckbach borders, in the southwest that of the Schüpfbach , which flows over the Umpfer to the Tauber . Beyond the western and northern reaches near the Brehmbach , which takes up the Muckbach and then flows further down into the Tauber.
The city of Tauberbischofsheim has the largest share of the area , a somewhat smaller one in the west is the municipality of Königheim with in particular almost the entire course of the Reissberggraben, and a very small one on the southern edge is the city of Lauda-Königshofen .

history
On Corpus Christi Day , June 21, 1984, heavy rain led to a flood catastrophe in the valleys of the Ölbach and some neighboring waters. Dittwar and the surrounding communities were affected. There was damage of around 90 million German marks .
