The T 14.1 of the Prussian State Railways and the Württemberg State Railways were freight train tender locomotives with the 1'D1 'wheel arrangement. They were later classified by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as class 93.5-12 in their numbering plan . The redesign was intended to remedy the shortcoming of the Prussian T 14 , the excessive axle load of the front running axle of 17.3 t compared to the driving axle with 14.2 t. This was only possible to a limited extent. The storage tanks for water and coal had been enlarged compared to the T 14.

history

Since after the First World War numerous vehicles of older series were defective or lost due to reparations payments , the Württemberg State Railroad initially acquired new locomotives for the route from Esslingen am Neckar via Stuttgart to Ludwigsburg . The machines designated here as T 14 were built on the model of the Prussian T 14.1 and only differed from them in a few details.

Between 1918 and 1924 a total of 729 vehicles were procured for the Prussian State Railways and the Prussian directorates of the Deutsche Reichsbahn ; 39 locomotives were procured for the Württemberg State Railways and the Stuttgart Directorate in 1921 and 1922. In the numbering plan of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the T 14.1 were classified as 93 501-1261 (class 93.5-12). The former Württemberg machines were included as 93 795–814 and 832–850.

In 1952 the Deutsche Bundesbahn had 423 locomotives. 138 locomotives remained with the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

At the Deutsche Bundesbahn , the locomotives of the 93.5–12 series were renamed in 1968 to the new, EDP-compatible series designation 093. However, it was only written on 093 526. The last copies were taken out of service in the same year. At the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the GDR, the 20 locomotives designated as 93.1–6 from 1970 onwards were decommissioned by 1972.

After the First World War , six machines came to the PKP and were designated as the TKt2 series. As a result of the Second World War , 68 locomotives remained in Poland under the aforementioned designation , the last of which was retired in 1972.

The only remaining example, the 93 526, is in the German Steam Locomotive Museum in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg. It was externally refurbished and has been back in the exhibition since 2016.

Constructive features

As with the Prussian T 14, the engine and boiler of the Prussian P 8 were used. The locomotives were 70 cm longer than the T 14, as space was needed for larger water supplies. This also made the locomotive heavier. However, the rear running axle was now loaded with 187.3 kN higher than that of the driving axles, which meant that it could no longer be used on branch lines. The rear plenum chamber was therefore closed so that this value could be reduced to 170.6 kN. This was at the expense of the range.

By changing the chassis (drilling out the counterweights), the top speed could be increased from an initial 65 km / h to 70 km / h.
