The kkStB 1.0 were two-axle steam railcars of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB), which were originally built for the Böhmisch Leipa – Steinschönau local railway, which was in operation by the Bohemian Northern Railway (BNB) . After the manufacturer of the steam generator Maschinenfabrik Komarek , they became known as Komarek railcars .

history

The two railcars were delivered in 1903 by the Prague wagon factory Ringhoffer , the standing steam boiler was built by Komarek in Vienna . Initially, the vehicles did not prove themselves because of the insufficient performance. In 1906, a more powerful, higher steam boiler system had to be installed in both vehicles .

The kkStB took over the two railcars in 1906 and from then on used them on the local railways Laun – Libochowitz (1,001) and Opočno – Dobruška (1,002).

The Czechoslovak State Railroad, ČSD, founded in 1918, placed both vehicles in the M 124.0 series in 1925. The M 124.002 remained in Dobruška until it was withdrawn due to a broken piston rod in 1939. The M 124.001 was moved to Sedlec u Kutné Hory after the nationalization of the Laun – Libochowitz local railway . From then on, it was used there on the Kuttenberg local railway from Sedlec to Kutná Hora. From 1939 the vehicle replaced the damaged M 124.002 in Dobruška. With the arrival of new diesel multiple units of the ČSD series M 131.1 , the multiple unit there was retired in 1947.

The M 124.001 was preserved as a museum. Since 1949 it has been part of the permanent exhibition in the National Technical Museum in Prague (NTM). As a result of a redesign of the museum, the railcar was removed from the permanent exhibition in the early 2000s and refurbished in 2006 in the České Velenice repair shop . Since then, the location of the vehicle has been the Lužná u Rakovníka Railway Museum .

technical features

The steam generator supplied by Komarek is designed as a combined corrugated tube  /  tube boiler . Additional pipes in the upper area also serve to superheat the steam. A two-cylinder compound engine with external joy control serves as the steam engine , which drives the front axle .

The railcar is braked by means of a direct-acting suction air brake on both axles. The necessary braking vacuum is generated via a simple air suction device ( ejector ). A hand spindle brake is used to secure the vehicle when it is stationary.

The water supply is housed in a container under the floor of the car, the coal in a box on the left side of the driver's cab .
