Łukasz Żygadło (born August 2, 1979 in Sulechów ) is a Polish volleyball player .
Career
Żygadło began his career in 1990 in his hometown near Orion Sulechów. In the 1994/95 season he played in the second team of AZS Częstochowa , before moving to SMS Rzeszów . With the Polish juniors he took third place at the European Championships in 1995 and 1996. In 1997 he returned to Czestochowa and played there in the first division team. In the very first season he was cup winner and 1999 Polish champion. After finishing second in the league in 2001, he went to Czarni Radom for a year . In 2002, the setter made his debut in the senior national team . The following season he was active at Skra Bełchatów and in 2004 he won the national cup with Energia Sosnowiec . He then went abroad and first played for the Greek first division club Panathinaikos Athens before moving to Turkey at Halkbank Ankara . 2006 reached Żygadło with the national team in the final of the World Cup against Brazil . He then played in Russia for Dinamo Kaliningrad . In 2007 he returned home for one season and was under contract with Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle . A year later he was hired by his current association, Itas Diatec Trentino . With the Italian team he was runner-up in 2009 and won the Champions League . In 2010, Trentino won the national cup and defended the Champions League title . The championship title and the third victory in the Champions League followed in the next year . The Poles reached with Żygadło 2011 the third place in the world league and at the European championship . In 2012 the setter won the Italian Cup. With the national team he took part in the Olympic Games in London .
social commitment
For many years, łygadło has supported Fundacja Iskierka , a Polish foundation that looks after seriously ill children , with income from sports . He dedicated his silver medal at the 2006 World Cup to the facility. Together with the fans in Trentino, he also founded the La forza della squadra project, in which the shirts and other equipment of famous athletes are auctioned for a good cause.
