Şemsi Yaralı
Şemsi Yaralı (born July 20, 1982 ) is a Turkish boxer . In 2008 she became world champion of amateur boxers in the heavyweight division .
Career
Şemsi Yaralı started boxing in 2000. She is a member of the sports club TSE Kulübü Ankara and fights in the heavyweight division.
The first results that are known from her date back to 2005. That year she won the renowned Ahmet Cömert tournament in Istanbul , which was the best-attended tournament in women's boxing in those years after the World and European Championships , with a point victory over the Indian Jyotsana. She then also managed a victory at Torneo Italia in Cascia, where she defeated the American Jacynthe Maloney on points in the heavyweight division in the final battle . She started in 2005 at the World Championships in Podolsk , where she won over Tameka Stephens from the United States on points (18:10) and was demolition winner in the first round over Jyotsana. In the final battle she faced the experienced Hungarian Mária Kovács , to whom she lost in the second round by breaking off. But when she took part in her first international championship, she became vice world champion.
The year 2006 started Şemsi Yaralı with a victory at the Ahmet Cömert tournament. She beat Adriana Hosu from Romania and Paulina Szmidt from Poland there on points. At the EU championship in Porto Torres on Sardinia , she lost in the final against world champion Maria Kovacs on points, but did excellently with a score of 13:18. At the European Championships in Warsaw in 2006 , she won again over Adriana Hosu, but had no chance in the final against Maria Kovacs and this time lost more clearly with 8:20 points. At this year's World Championships in New Delhi, there were only four female boxers in the heavyweight division, so that Şemsi Yaralı won a bronze medal despite her loss on points to Jelena Vadimowna Surkowa from Russia , who was very close at 10:11 .
In 2007, Şemsi Yaralı beat the 2006 world champion Jelena Surkowa on points at the Ahmet Cömert tournament and took 1st place. After that it didn't go so well, because she lost to Maria Kovacs on points (5-7) at the 2007 EU Championship in Lille and was third. At the European Championships in Vejle / Denmark she lost against Jelena Surkowa clearly on points (1: 9) and therefore only reached 5th place in this championship.
In 2008, Şemsi Yaralı took part in five international championships and tournaments and finished all five as the winner. In March 2008 she won the intern. Tournament in Stupino / Russia with victories over Inna Shevchenko from Ukraine and Nadeschda Torlopowa from Russia. At the Ahmet Cömert tournament, she defeated Sylwie Kusiak from Poland and Anna Gladkitsch from Russia and became the winner. She achieved the same result in August 2008 at the EU championship in Liverpool . There she beat Adriana Hosu and Sylwia Kusiak. In September 2009 she won the Witch Cup in Pécs / Hungary due to a lack of opponents and in November 2008 she crowned this successful year in Ningbo / China by winning the world championship. She defeated Inna Shevchenko (10: 0), Tiffany Hearn from the United States (7: 5) and Adriana Hosu (7: 2) each on points.
In 2009 it didn't start that often. But she finished first at the Ahmet Cömert tournament with victories over Inna Shevchenko, Raluca Chris, Romania and Nadezhda Torlopova. At the European Championships in Nikolajew , Ukraine , she won points over Inna Shevchenko (7: 2) and Sylwia Kusiak (11: 2), but lost against Nadezhda Torlopova by breaking off in the 3rd round and therefore had to be satisfied with the European runner-up title .
At the international championships in 2010, Şemsi Yaralı was not in good shape. She clearly lost on points (1: 8) at the EU championship in Keszthely / Hungary against Anna Slowik from Poland and suffered a disqualification defeat at the world championships in Bridgeport , Barbados , in the quarter-finals against Katerina Kuchtsel from Ukraine. At the 2011 European Championships in Rotterdam , things looked completely different, because she won the European Championship in the 81 kg class with points over Anna Slowik (16: 4), Katerina Schambir, Ukraine (19:10) and Irina Sinezkaja , from Russia Body weight.
