Šaban Trstena ( Macedonian Шабан Трстена ; Albanian  Shaban Tërstena ; born January 1, 1965 in Skopje , SFR Yugoslavia , now North Macedonia ) is a former North Macedonian wrestler who previously competed for Yugoslavia.

biography

Šaban Trstena was able to win the bronze medal in 1982 at both the World Championships in Katowice and the European Championships in Varna . At the age of only 19 he became the youngest Olympic wrestler to date by winning the gold medal in the flyweight in the free style at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles . Only a few months earlier he had also won the European title in this discipline. In addition to other silver and bronze medals at various European championships, he was able to win the silver medal in flyweight in free style at his second Olympic participation in 1988 in Seoul . Two years later he became European champion for the second time. He also won three gold medals at the Mediterranean Games .
