(2056) Nancy is a major belt asteroid. It was discovered on October 15, 1909 by Joseph Helffrich at the State Observatory in Heidelberg-Königstuhl ( IAU code 024).
The asteroid was named after Nancy Lou Zissell Marsden, wife of the British astronomer Brian Marsden .
Nancy moves between 1,910 ( perihelion ) and 2,526 astronomical units ( aphelion ) in an elliptical orbit around the sun . The orbit is slightly inclined towards the ecliptic at 3 ° , 9 , the orbital eccentricity is 0.139.
